Second Grade News

We cannot believe our year with your precious children is done.

This Spring, our emphasis was on fluent reading (reading without stopping to figure out words) at each child's own level. Children need to be able to read words at each level effortlessly before they can really comprehend what they read. So please continue the reading practice throughout the summer break.

This year, children were asked to order and group numbers and work with numbers far greater than those they can physically count. We were adding and subtracting two-digit numbers, and working to understand simple multiplication and division up to the number five. so if you find yourself at the grocery, and need to add and subtract some numbers, let your child do it, and keep in practice!

Remember to keep reading all summer long! It really makes a difference!
